Title: Primos Truth 23
Post by: 870BkWht on April 12, 2012, 01:25:10 AM
I know this years Primos Truth DVD has been out a while, but I just picked up a copy and have watched all but the last couple of hunts.  I did browse through the hunts on the title menu and noticed that Will wasnt on any of the hunts.  I also noticed he wasn't on much of last years hunts also.  Anyone know why this is?  Seems to me they should call it Ashley, Meachum, and Goza Turkey hunting because those guys are the only ones that are on camera anymore.  Just wanted to see what you guys thought.

In my opinion, since the primos family sold the company in 2006 the quality of everything has gone downhill. Its unfortunate too because I used to buy only Primos stuff.

Did it have any hunts that weren't on the TV show?

I understand that bow hunting turkeys is fun for the hunter to get them in close like that but it makes for terribly boring video.. much rather see run -n- gun gobbling mayham

Maybe because he is getting older.... his knee may not let him hunt like he used to. I enjoyed them more when he was on there and when it was more of the woods hunting instead of setting up blinds with decoys out front and all the dang bowhunting...... in pastures and large fields.

Indeed, bowhunting turkeys out of blinds is like playing golf.  I might enjoy doing it...BUT I wouldn't want to watch it on TV.

I don't like to watch them bowhunting out of blinds and I'm not too fond of the cast either. I like the old truth videos when they were hunting river bottom and swamp birds.

I think Will just hunts for the most part these days.  He shot a nice tom on Tuesday.  I recall a few years back, he said elk hunting was becoming his real passion, so I'm guessing he has shifted his focus to enjoying the field with the years he has left  :)

A friend said that will told him he was getting burnt out on it. I think all commerical videos suck anymore. Gobble, call, see gobbler, gobbler sees decoy, boom, yay. The first videos of primos were the best hunting those hardwood bottoms, no blinds, no decoys. Actually fooling the turkey.

The apex of turkey hunting.

Indeed. I have a collection of them, but I'm not a bowhunter(with the exception of a crossbow on occasion). So, I don't get anything at all out of watching someone trying to sell me a Double Bull blind while killing a Rio in background. But I do like killing Rios. ;)

I agree with you guys. I'm glad they reduced the shelf price of the video. I really enjoyed in the past watching Brad's daughter hunting and she was cut out. Only seen Brad once in the video and none of Wilbur. I dont care to watch blind hunting. Reminds me too much of deer hunting. I hope they pick up the ball soon or they will be losing a lot of video sales. Just hunt and stop plugging your stupid decoys and blinds!

I haven't seen the new video, but all those companies care about is the almighty dollar.  Of course they are going to have a lot of hunts out of blinds and over decoys because thats where the market is now.  There really aren't too many turkey hunters who don't at least own a blind anymore.  5 years ago it was still a fairly new thing to a lot of people.  When the suits in the office see the sales of their blinds go up every year, it leads them to believe that the turkey hunting community is shifting to that stye and so they will go with whatever is seling the most products.  I for one would rather see archery hunting over decoys because thats the type of hunting I enjoy and thats where my interests are.
