Title: WOW... Hevi #5's
Post by: bowhunter2k9 on April 05, 2012, 01:43:25 PM
Hey guys, just throwing something out there, if you haven't tried the hevi#5's in your setup and you like hevi 6's... TRY EM.  I shot a big piece of cardboard and every single pellet must have been in the 20 inch (guestimate). the target was completely shredded. I know there's less pellets in the 10 compared to the 6's but man, those 5's would backflip a bird easily at 40 yds.  SORRY NO PIC!

also, guestimating again....  there were at MINIMUM 150 pellets in the 10... probably more like 180

What gun/choke did you shoot em through?

My brother-in-law is shooting a Comp-N-Choke with HEVI 5 in and SBE II. He's getting amazing results at 40yds. He rolled a bird at 52 steps this year as well. Those HEVI-5s hit like 3 lead. Awesome load if you like the big pellets

Uh-oh. He shot one past 40.   :D  Also, don't I remember seeing a picture of a CNC busted from shooting HS?

LOL he said 52 steps.  Heck, for me 44 steps is 100 ft.  And for me, 40 yds (120 ft) is approximately 53 steps.

Tisk.....Tisk....... No talking about shots past 40yd.    :whip2:    Assuming 52 steps is more then 40yd.

I saw the pic of that CNC choke busted from hevishot.  Didn't look good to me.

Just for kicks last week I shot a Hevi #5 through my new Turelock Heviweight choke. I was shocked to say the least. I did not count the holes, but I am willing to bet there was 170-180 in the 10 @ 40.

I put 135 pellets in a 10" with my 870 using a Hevi-13 3" 1.75oz #5 load and a .655 Ventuilator choke.  That will very easily kill a bird at 40yds.

Wanna try something that hits hard try some of their 2 3/4 inch #4 classic doubles duck loads. Our back stop at the club is a big sheet of metal and you know by the sound just how hard they hit.
