Title: Youth 870 ?
Post by: joshlw on April 04, 2012, 06:38:13 PM
Got a 870 youth model for my daughter to hunt with and put a carlsons extended choke in it.575
From a rest the gun is shooting abbot 5 or 6 in left . Some shot is hitting the turkey target but the majority is hitting left. Winchester HV #5 3in. Any advise on what the problem could be? Just don't want to keep buying not knowing what to try first.

That's very common. I don't think I own a shotgun that hits where I aim it. Go buy a set of fiber optic sights and get it dialed in for her. I use Williams Fire Sights, Truglo also makes some. Both work well. Or, you could add a scope or red dot sight for quite a bit more money. The Williams cost about $40, Truglo about $50 I think................And buy her some 6's or 7's when you pick up the sight. Tough to get good patterns outta those 5's.

Another vote for the williams firesights. for 35 bucks you cant beat them. Even if you changed choke and shell combo it could flop and shoot the other direction lol
