Roosted some turkeys tonight. Taking a friend that has never killed a turkey. He is one of the Deacons at our Church. He took me to this piece of property that he has access to hunt. Today I roosted some turkeys from a different road that is on that place. So I called him and he'll be at my house at 5 am. I'm taking the camera. Hope to be posting some video tomorrow afternoon because I still have to work tomorrow. Glad I am able to adjust my schedule as needed. Wish me luck. I really hope I can call a bird in for this old guy. He needs it, and so do I. :)

Good luck Joe!! I've only heard 1 gobbler in the last 2 mornins and that bird was across the property line!! Yesterday was muggy and cloudy, today was perfect weather....I thought they would gobble this mornin, but no such luck. Goin in the mornin.
Good luck Joe! Get that old guy a bird. :z-guntootsmiley:
No bird today. The turkeys were roosted on the adjoining property and did not want to come our way. I did get them fired up a bit but they were henned up pretty bad. Another couple weeks and we might try that spot again.

I spotted a turkey I am going to put a target on. He was with a group of 7 strutters. I got a good look at his spurs with my binos today. If he lives thru the weekend he is going to be in trouble next week. I had a patient today that was towards the hills from me. I saw 50+ turkeys on the way there and 10 were big gobblers.
Get em Joe. I know you have an upgrade in you. Good luck this weekend.
Good luck Joe!
I am heading out with a Dr friend of mine tomorrow. Taking the camera and hope to get some video.

Yes it is my duck hunting buddy. My wife has worked for him for almost 20 years. I took him about 18 years ago and called in his first turkey. He has now taken 7 different people and called in their first turkey. Comes around.

I get to go hunting again tomorrow for myself. I've got 1 more turkey to kill in CA. Tomorrow might be the day.

Had one at 30 yards and could see his head as clear as day but could not see his beard. Called him away from several hens and across a road. I couldn't figure out why he didn't come the rest of the way in until 3 hours later when I went backed and looked at where he was. There was a fence where he hung up and he just couldn't figure out how to get thru it. So he went back to his girlfriends. That is some valuable info for next time.

Heading to MO in the morning. Gonna hunt MO and IA for a week. Looking to upgrade. Last time I hunted this place in MO I killed my 2 biggest turkeys to date. I probably wont even see a turkey. NOT.

they grow them big out there. Good luck, safe travels.
Good luck and good huntin Joe!!!
Went out this afternoon after work. Our season closes at 4:00 pm daily. I got there at 2:00 and after about 30 minutes I got a gobbler to answer my Twisting creek box call. I was debating whether to move to a different location but staid put. This big old longbeard came strolling over the rise and headed right for me. Pausing only to go into half strut a couple times. I was elevated from his direction and across a creek. He came all the way to 30 yards and even stopped and drank out of the creek. I was waiting for him to fly the creek. I know some of you are thinking why haven't I shot. I was thinking the same thing. The problem was I had a 410 and it's a 20 yard gun. I might be able to push it to 25. If I would have had my 12 I would be done in CA. He was beautiful in the tall grass. Nothing between him and I except air and a creek. After he walked off I went down where he was and looked back to where I was setting. I should have shot. I think he was closer than I thought he was. Better safe than sorry. Our season ends on Sunday. I am heading out tomorrow for a few hours before work. Hope I tag out. Wish me luck,

Good luck Joe, hope you fill that last tag!
