Been wondering if any of yall have been out there in the woods yet. I still have five days to go, but have located a few dandy toms. One of my areas looks like it's a jake nursery this year. They even have the nerve to gobble and strut around like big boys. They wouldn't dare do that on my spot out west.....too many longbeards around to try that kind of shenanigans. :newmascot:
I'm still waiting another 24 days. I'm not sure if Bighooks is a go yet or not. Seems to be alot of jakes around here as well. Birds seem to be just breaking up from their wintering grounds so the activity is just starting to get going. First gobbles and strutting were heard and seen last week. Last year at this time I was making the trip to Okla. for a couple Rios but it wasn't in the cards this year. Next year for sure.
12 days to go here, but the boys have been gobbling for a couple of weeks.
I can't hunt till the 25th, But i'm going haddock fishing next weekend in Mass.
I started Saturday. No luck yet, but I've seen a lot of Gobblers around just not got any close yet. I think the timing is messed up here in Tennessee this year. I ran up on 3 different hens by themselves today. I also ran upon 3 gobblers that wouldn't gobble, just strut. I'm not frustrated yet, but I'm getting there.
I agree with Thrasher, things sure are messed up this year with all this hot weather. I did manage to put a tag on one yesterday afternoon.

Shot this guy in SC last Saturday on a Work-ation. Was all alone on some property somebody let me hunt. Had no way of weighing and measuring so I apologize to my team mates. Promise to make it up to you all. Still have a 3 day SC hunt in April and then comes home state PA season. Will be carrying my scale and tape measure in my back pack from now on.
