Title: mixing latex
Post by: gobblingghost on March 31, 2012, 10:01:30 PM
I been making calls for years but I have noticed more and more call makers mixing  different thickness latex together. Has anyone tried this and how does work?

I only make 1 mouth call that has all the latex the same thickness. The rest are mixed.

I build 12 of my 15 calls with mixed weight reeds.  I think it gives the builder more diversity.

The last time I bought supplies I got them fro Frank Sutliff I think was his name. Does anyone know if he is still selling supplies and the rates?

I'm not sure if they make .002. If I'm not mistaken prof is the thinnest and it is approx .025. I have no idea where to get orange or what thickness it is. I just bought some colored condoms and cutt them up. The color does make a difference in the vibration characteristics even when it is the same thickness.

I got green, yellow, purple, and pink. I cutt some green and yellow. The green was awesome and the yellow made the call RASPY. Haven't tried the other colors.
