Title: Barrel Polishing
Post by: FullChoke on February 24, 2011, 09:49:52 AM
Well, I tried to take shortcuts last year with polishing one of my barrels and it showed up at the range last weekend.  I know better.

Does anyone have the compounds recommended on the shooting thread that they would be willing to loan to me so that I can do this right, the second time? They are the J&B Bore cleaner, the J&B Bore Bright and the Kroil Kreeping oil. I already have the rest of the hardware.

Thanks.

If I had some more of it, I would have been happy to send you some.  I only got 1 each of the small 2oz jars of the J&B and did one gun with it and have 3 more to do.  I hope I can make it last enough for those.  I was very pleased with the results on my 535.  I'm glad I did it the way VAHUNTER suggested.  After talking with him, he convinced me to just do it right the first time with the right products.

Shipping them from New York to Mississippi would probably cost as much as buying them.  I think I paid $8 for the Kroil oil and $7 or 8 for the J&B cleaner.  Still trying to get my gunshop to order the bore brite.

I just ordered the Kroil, J-B Bore Cleaner and J-B Bore Polish from Graf & Sons. Once the stuff gets here, I will go at this barrel again and do it right.

For you guys that have polished your barrels, what kind of pattern improvement numbers did you see after polishing?
