I bought my first box of Hevi Shot today 3 1/2" 2 1/4oz #5. I assume the # on inside of box lid is the lot#. #3000003 is it one of the good lots or bad?
Guess I will shoot em and find out!
Well I tried 'em not impressed!

That's why guys buy 6's and 7's instead of 5's in hevishot/xtended range.
I may try 6's if I can find some local. The great State DE don't allow us to use 7 shot
even for #5s those are pretty bad

I was thinking the same thing. What gun and choke were you using?

Indian creek!!!!
You need to go to #6 shot. You are negating the benefits of the Hevi Shot by shooting #5's. The Hevi #6's will hit harder than lead #5's. I would also consider buying another choke if it doesn't pattern well with the #6.
I have never liked 5's in hv shot, I shoot 6 and 7's, try a Jelly head choke, or a more open choke, good luck.
Only 1 place had hevi local. Only thing they had was 4 & 5 shot in hevi. Boxes looked old.
