 i want to learn how to kee kee on a pot do you use a hard striker
thanks otis
That and a well polished aluminum surface will help you learn then you can move to glass. Plain aluminum is the easiest. I also go side to side near the rim for the Kee kee then finish with a normal yelp.
A denser wood striker helps make it easier to kee kee. A couple very important things is to make sure you keep the angle of your striker exactly the same all the way through your motions, if it changes any at all the call will start to break over like a yelp. Secondly you have to kill as much of the vibration as you can in the striker, spread your fingers out a little and pinch it tight. Just run a straight line through the area where you normaly play your calls, the more the call is played the easier it is to kee kee on.
To run a kee kee run, as you finish your last kee kee release the preasure on your striker and snap it straight down into the call, just like you do on a yelp.

I just figured it out last night after some previous failed attempts..
as opposed to a yelp where you start closer to the call rim and drag the striker toward the center of the call. Start a hair closer to the rim and slide the striker to the side, I made like a little half moon shade keeping the angle and pressure the same.
I had best sucess with a yellowheart striker on an anodized aluminum surface

You can get away with a little arc on an alum surface, if you do it on a glass keep it straight east/west, other wise it will want to break over.
You do a whine the same way as the Kee Kee, just slow your stroke down and less pressure to keep it softer.
thanks willow, yeah I went over to my crystal today and figured out I had to keep it straighter, Ill work on the whine too then
really trying to refine my calling since I have til the End of April to even start with Juniors
have not tryed it but i heard the keekee disc woodheaven makes is real good.
