Title: Hevi shot
Post by: Jake#5 on March 20, 2012, 05:30:19 PM
I was just wandering what you guys were getting in a 10 in. circle with hevi shot.

Im using a 12 ga 870 with a 21 in. barrel, a hevi shot choke, shooting the 3 in. mag blends and getting around 200 pellets in a 10 in. circle.

What are you guys getting and whats the setup?

That's fantastic! I wouldn't change a thing! That is a very good number for Mag Blends in a 3" shell!
Do you have any pics of your pattern?

I would be quite happy with those numbers with 3" mag-blends.

I don't think I have any pictures of the pattern, but I will take some next time I shoot it.

Remington 870 with a Jellyhead. Shooting Hevi #7's and getting 220 in a 10. I've done a little polishing on the barrel and hope the numbers will be better when I pattern it this weekend.

I'm getting 200-210 in the 10" with that same combination.   :OGturkeyhead:

I'm turning the same numbers with mag blends out of a beretta urika and PG .670. Same setup turns 250-260 with Hevi 7's. I wouldnt touch a thing on that gun I would just hunt with it. There are people who spend allot of money on custom guns that won't shoot that well.

I just patterned mt 870 SM, 3.5" H-13 #7, with a Jelly Head .665.  I am averaging 260 pellets at a 10" circle at 40 yards.  Been thinking about a SSX .643 just for fun

I have similar results from my Benelli SBE II 26" barrrel, .655 GG choke tube.  The last time I patterned, I got 190 with Hevi Magblend, 276 with Nitro Magblend, and 317 with Hevi #7s, so you can probably expect some significant differences in results depending on which load your gun likes best.

Good luck and report back what you find.

160's with 3 inch 2 oz #6 Hevi & same setup

170-180's 3.5 inch 2.25 oz #6 Hevi & same setup
