Title: Florida turkey hunting help...
Post by: Gobblestik on March 19, 2012, 04:06:47 PM
Anyone hunt or live around lake Wales, FL. My grandparents go down there every winter to stay and fish. they always want me to come visit so I was thinking that I may take a trip down there. I know its getting a little late to plan a trip this year but I was wondering about next year.

What would be the best time of year to go? Are there any public spots available around there? Any help would be appreciated.

Check out myfwc.com.  There are several WMA's within reasonable driving distance of lk wales.

Check FWC --  there are several areas to go to , all of them very crowded - just being honest with you

Its not like other states with the gobbling they hit it hard well before the hunting season and then it declines as the season progresses , mostly due to hunting pressure and gobblers being killed - so opening week is best --
