I got my first one of the year this past Friday. It is the first afternoon bird I've shot in a few years. We struck a gobble and he must have ran up to the road we were on, because he was flopping 2 minutes after he gobbled. He was killed near Fayette, MS had 1, 1 1/8 spurs just over 9" beard and weighed 18.4 #'s. The birds were turned on by me Thursday, Friday and Saturday. I really should have shot 2, but I guess it will take a week or so to knock the rust off. Wasn't near as exicting as watching my son take his 1st last week, but still a hoot. Hope to bust another this weekend.
