Title: Browning Gold w/ SSX
Post by: Michigander on March 17, 2012, 06:15:54 PM
Patterned my gun this morning, Gold 3 1/2 with a 26in polished barrel. 60 degrees with a slight breeze at a measured 40 yards.

Remington hevi shot 3 1/2" 1 7/8 oz. #6 - 167 in the 10
Federal heavy weight 3 1/2" 1 7/8 oz. #6 - 142 in the 10

Are these decent numbers for these loads? I was pretty happy with them, just didn't know what was typical.

Both of those sound just fine as long as they are pretty even and dense.

Thanks,
Clark

Those will do the trick but would think you could do a bit better by using something in the 665-675 range

I wondered about that but found the SSX on sale. Probably going to stock with this setup this year, as it will get the job done just fine.

It's funny that Remington calls this load 6's. It looked like the shot sizes ranged from 7's to 4's. Apparently, Remington came out with the original Mag Blend.    :D

Clark, I plan on hunting with the Remingtons because the 20" looked a lot better.

Thanks guys
