Just out of curiosity, wondering how many folks here plan on busting some turkeys with the Hevi-13 #7's this spring? I know I'll be using them again some and I might even shoot some Hevi-13 #6 loads that I have. The 7's are becoming more popular every year and with good reason since the majority of folks that try them have seen what they will do to a turkey. I know I'm sold on them. And good luck to everyone this season. Keep all your shots on target and your range within lethal distance.
They shoot like crap out of both guns for me, so the 835 is using lead this spring and the 870 20 ga will be shooting Fed heavyweights.
sold all mine. I'll be shooting lead.
i will be shooting 7's but i may buy some 6's local gun shop has the 6's for $22 7's i gotta order for $30 +shipping
I will this year. Lot # 300325.
I'll be using my old stock of 7's. Not so sure what I'll be doing with the 6 boxes of new ones I just got, since they don't pattern as well as I would like.
hevi 7 in my 1187, mag blend in my 870
I am shooting the 3.5" 2.25oz #7's lot #300500. When they are gone I will be going back to lead 6's because I am getting 140-150 out of the 3.5" HV Winchesters.
I'm shooting the 7's in the 3 in gun and 6's in the 3.5.. I got 219@40 with the 3 in gun with an unpolished barrel anda hevi choke.
No doubt I will be shooting them from the 12 ga 870....I just happen to have a few boxes of Lot#300325 still laying around. I guess they were born to kill! :z-guntootsmiley:
You guys are right about lot 300325. How would you like to be the gobbler standing at 40yds and take a face full of shot from that load that puts over 300+ in a 10"? How in the heck would you see tomorrow? :funnyturkey:

I think you need to play some more. Send me your gun after the season is over and I will show you how well it in fact shoots.

Kool-Aid #7 please!
Well brad, I've shot a few testing different stuff in my guns and got some great patterns, but never got to hunt with them last year cause I tagged out before I got to.
I've had some bbl trouble the last week due to stupidness, but its coming back and the hevi 7s are loaded and headed to Florida tonight. I hope I get a chance to try one, but the 20 w/tss is the main rig.
U right...I just can't see one walking off with the patterns like im getting.
Count me in, hopefully many times!!!

I've tested 6 different chokes with those 7's, my gun just does not like them, that and i'm not drinking the koolaid anymore and paying 30+ a box for 5 shells. That and i'm not gonna play the lot number game.
Depending on pattern results this weekend, it will be 3.5 H-13 #6 or #7 but could be Fed. Heavyweight #7s.
I'm been shooting 7's in the 20ga's.
As much pattern testing as I do, I got tired of getting pounded by the 3.5, 2 1/4 oz loads in 5's and 6's so I ordered some 3 in # 7's for the 12 ga and getting around 200/10/40.
The next season, I'll probably be going back to lead.
I could've bought another gun with the $$ I've spent on HTL loads this season.

No gobbler will walk free from the 7's when your shooting the kind of patterns we guys are getting at 40yds. All we have to do is keep our distance in check and not try and over do it.
Maybe we ought to start out own Hevi-13 #7 club. :fud:

I bet I got a choke that will shoot great in your gun with the #7 loads that you haven't tried. But it's not for sale.
Good luck in your quest.

One of these days I might have to try some of them Fed just to see how they do. Let us know how they shoot.
Not me..

nope... I'll have the 3.5" 6's chambered though
I will. I got about five boxes left, and I plan to shoot 'em all at something...just not cardboard. :D
We'll shoot both #6 and #7 Hevi-13s this year, depending upon the gun we take to the field. They both work very well.
Thanks,
Clark
going with the #7 3 1/2 inch loads but they do hurt my shoulder a bit..but that keeps me from wasting them on paper .
I'll be shooting them again this year for the third or fourth year in a row. Lot #300325=lots of carnage

I will be shooting them until I run out.
Shooting Hevi 7's out of three 12g's and Fed HW 7's out of the 20g. 3 in gun is turning 250, the 3.5 is turning 330's, and the 20g is turning 150-170. There is no way im taking another shell to the woods. 7's have proven themselves in the past for me and i have harvested two this year with devastating results. :anim_25:
Mag Blends 3 inch primary round and 3 inch #7 for the second bird. Only paid $19.99 a box for them this year.($30.00? where is that)
:funnyturkey:
I've got some 3 1/2" Hevi-13 #7 to try this year. They will be shot out of my 835 with my newly aquired Star Dot. I'm slightly regretting spending the money on them after seeing everyone talking about bad lot numbers. I guess they should still be better than lead regardless.
I'll be on the H-13 #7 wagon again, I've got 5 boxes of #300325.
Bought some 7s to try this year
I'll be there!!!
Hevi-13 3.5-2.25-6's for me. Just like 6's I guess.

There's nothing wrong with them either.
Yup 3" 2oz #7's for me.
Here are some targets shot with H-13 out of my 870 Banser choke.

Why shoot H-13 when you can shoot Nitros! :z-guntootsmiley:
Why pay for Nitros when you can get 271 in the ten at 40 with Hevi 7's?
I'll be toting Hevi-13 7's this Spring :z-guntootsmiley:
I have shot Hevi's, copper plated and regular lead. I will admit slightly better patterns with the hevi's however I'm giving up more velocity /FPS with those loads so it seems to be a toss up for me.
My question is, why does most poeple post such high numbers with the Hevi's yet the photos of dead birds never seem more dramatic in shot content than those I have shot with lead? The paper & postings show higher #'s in the 10" & 20" but not the dead birds?
Please keep in mind I shoot what gives "me" the most consistant & ethical killing results.
I will be shooting TSS followed by either mag blends or hevi 7s.

Yes my freind, you can't shoot em any deader than dead..... ::)
Why do we do it? I personally try to improve in any way I can to ensure that I have the most effective tools at my disposal when it comes to humanely harvesting these majestic birds. My old lead loads worked great, but being able to put 20-30 more pellets in the head of a turkey gives me just that much more confidence in my setup. I was of the "lead is dead" school for a while till I shot my first Hevi loads this year.
I think the better question to ask is "Why not?"
I have 12 shells left.
6 from 2010 that gave me 320s
6 from 2011 that gave 250s
Once this season is over I will be reloading TSS.
We put 11 longbeards on the ground last year with the Hevi #7 shot, from 12 yds out to 44yds. It is safe to say we will be shooting the #7's again this year. And Fed #7 Heviweights in my daughters 20ga.
I'll be rocking the 7's as well. I was fortunate enough to harvest four birds in the last two years with Hevi shot. Two went down in Pa. with the 7's and two went down in Maine with the 6's and both worked excellent.
I hope my prior post did not make me out to be a lead only guy..... As I said prior, I shoot what works best in each gun and try to weigh the value pellet count along with velocity / FPS. I hunt with both Hevi's and Lead depending on the gun I choose to shoot at any given time.

I'll be shooting Nitro 3.5" 2 7/16 oz. #7's. I'm getting 327 hits with a dirty barrel and my 7's are moving faster than yours. That's why I use them.
Here one that I hit in the head with #7's.

He doesn't look dead to me. :toothy9:
Hevi, are you sure you did not hit him with the butt of your gun. lol. Thats a wollop there. How far. I am going to do some playing myself this spring now that I have a lead sled DFT. In the past after a box to much user error came into play. hard to be consistant when your cheek bone is swollen. hevi 7 are on the list.
This one ain't dead either. :OGturkeyhead:
This is the 44yd guy, he is almost dead..
