Title: Rem 870/ Hevi 7's: Turkey Down
Post by: Longshanks on March 15, 2012, 02:54:51 PM
Awesome opening morning!!..turkey was in my lap after some soft calling.  Turkey was down 10 minutes after his feet hit the ground. Gobbled, strutted within 20 yds and put on a show.  Shot the turkey at 35yds with Hevi 3/2/7's and the results were devastating.  Shooting the turkey was the easy part.  Listening to the turkey for a couple of mornings and following him..listening to try to see what his routine was.. the tuff part.  Knowing what call to make and when to make it put the turkey in my lap.  Pulling the trigger stopped the fun.  Blessed day!  (10 in beard, 3/4 spurs)

No need for an autopsy.  There is no telling how many of those 7's zipped thru the head and neck of that bird before he even hit the ground.

Congrats!

Glad you are enjoying those 7's. They're bad medicine for longbeards. :you_rock:

wheres the pics!!!!!!!!!!

I guess after all these years of turkey hunting..taking pictures..you end up with an incredible number of turkey pics that simply look like..another turkey.  When kids kill them or folks who just started hunting kill them..we take pics.

Two for Two..great hunt this morning. Saw a big gobbler following 6-8 hens. Another gobbler following one hen came through the woods. Bred the hen and as soon as he stepped off I cutt at him and he triple gobbled and came running like he was break dancing. Shot him at 32 yds with Beretta 390 (20g)/ Hevi Choke/ Fed HW 7's.  Turkey didnt flop once.  The 20 guage is bad medicine. :turkey2:
