What a beautiful opening day of season. Didn't hear anything at first light, but after moving along the ridge for about half a mile, heard one on the far side of the next ridge over. Dropping down the side of my ridge, I moved along the creek a little to line up with a little hardwood flat that I knew was at the top of the next ridge. Easing up to the top of the that ridge I picked out a nice oak, and heard the gobbler sound off as I was getting settled. With a few raspy yelps, he hammered back hard. After about two minutes he gobbled again, closer and a little to the right of where he was previously, so I adjusted the gun on my knee. Another run of yelps, nothing... but I did catch movement a little to my right, focusing in that direction I see his blue head coming up over the crest of the ridge. He turns and takes about 5 steps towards me, then turns back to my right. I give three quick yelps to stop him and he stretches him neck out just right.....
7:15 -- no more than 10 minutes from when I sat down.

Thanks man. It is a 2.75" 12ga Belgium Browning A5; started out hunting with it 30-something years ago with a standard 31" full choke barrel, now it has a 21" barrel with screw in chokes. Kills them dead!
Have to luv a fast hunt like that, makes you think you know what your doing till the next one takes you to school and leaves you scratching your head.!!! Good job on a nice bird.!!
very nice
