Title: Drawing in Turkeys?
Post by: bornagain64 on February 23, 2011, 03:32:50 PM
I have 10 acres for my use. I have seen turkeys in the area, usually on  my neighbors property.

If you could put out one food source out to draw in turkeys what would it be?
Thanks John

Nothing you throw out is going to hold them there for long.  Create proper habitat, create burns, create open areas, leave strategic thckets for nesting areas.  Best food source you can provide for them is to plant small grain and seed producing plants.  Millet is one of the best, grain sorgum is good.  Chufas will work but is expensive and it can take them time to learn what it is.  Usually have to plow it over first few years for them to learn what it is.

Just noticed you were from Florida. Chufa probably won't work if you have hogs. Might want to get a feeder.
