Title: Calling all Georgia callmakers
Post by: joshb311 on March 13, 2012, 09:22:07 PM
Looking for Georgia callmakers that produce box calls. I'm ordering a Dad's box call this year from Mr. Jerry White in Hazlehurst, GA but I'm also interested in locating and helping support some of the home state talent. Any names that stand out? If you're a callmaker from Georgia that produces box calls I'd really like to hear from you.

Olin Humphries from Eatonton

Russell Beard from Buford

Jack Scott from Cochran

These three men make excellent quality box calls.

If you want more options, PM me.

Josh:

Are you getting purpleheart over cedar from Jerry?

Other makers:

Lonnie Mabry, Waleska, no website and must go see him.

Allen Jenkins in Thomasville used to own Lynch and he makes a similar style of box.  He has a website and sells under Allen Jenkins calls.

Yep, these were the same three I was going to recommend. Carey Slead at waddlewackers makes a good long box too.

The purpleheart/cedar was what I had been looking at from Jerry. I love the sound it produces. Plus it's an absolutely amazing looking call to me. I have been thoroughly impressed and taken aback in the last three months by some of the work I have seen from folks on here and various places online.

I figure I would start with a few Georgia legends, then a few of the not so famous but quality calls from other Georgia boys and then I want to build on my collection from out of state makers.

Jerry believes that purple/cedar is his best box call.

Besides, by getting that one, you can be like the girly singer from Rascal Flats.

Ah it's ok. I'm secure enough in my manhood to cut 'em down with a hot pink box call.  :icon_thumright:
