Title: Pellet count from Stoeger 3500
Post by: Bustabeak on March 10, 2012, 10:59:14 PM
I shot my stoeger today and at 25 yards I got 61 pellets i the head. I am only shooting the factory choke and winchester supreme 3-1/2 #6's. I don't plan on shooting much further that that  and was wondering what pellet count some of your setups are getting.

Although that definitely would be a dead turkey, at first glance, that isn't a very good pattern for 25 yards, in my opinion. I'm sure a little tinkering with different chokes would greatly improve the pattern. I have a 2000, and it doesn't do very well with the factory choke either.

At 20 yards I'm putting a hole the size of a 25 cent piece in the target. At 25 yards I would expect a uncountable number.

I don't think your point of impact and point of aim are identical.

If you go and shoot at a 30x30 piece of paper I'll guarantee the majority of your pattern isn't where you're aiming.

And no, I wouldn't hunt with that pattern.

This. I agree that is too open at 25 yards.

Same here. Still deciding on what gun to get. Really looking at a 3500.

Looks like you may want to try a tighter choke and check POA/POI on a bigger Piece of paper. With that shell at 25yds it should be plastered.

I definitely like the gun. I've had a nova and a Stoeger P-350 and then I bought this one. I love it. I killed 3 birds with it last year but again I don't generally don't  shoot over 25-30 yards. But I'm going to try to get some more shooting in the next couple of days.

im no guiness but if your gun doesnt have adjustable sights the pattern your getting you might want to add some to bring in your point of aim,,,but again im no guiness so dont take why i say as reallity

I had forgotten I had put a different shim in the stock. I changed it back to the original one and the POI seems to be better but I would still like to work on the tightness of the pattern. Put 178 in 10 circle at 30. I know it still isn't great but I think It will do the job at 25yds (hopefully closer).  Like i said I wouldn't  shoot past that anyways.

I definitely love the gun. Just hadn't had time to pattern it or the money to spend on it. But it has yet to misfire with any size shell. I really like the gun. I just wish it would have came in Bottomland camo! But Maybe I'll have it dipped one day.
