Title: UA turkey mask
Post by: Cutt on March 09, 2012, 03:47:40 PM
I'm needing a new turkey mask this year, and was curious if anyone has the new UA mask, and if so, how do you like it?

I'm pretty particular about my mask, as I hate the kind with eye cutouts as I do not wear glasses. And this one looks similiar to the type I like, something that can be worn around the neck then just pulled up below the eyes, to keep the eye area open, with my hat sitting low at the brows.

Although these types it requires a stretch fit or elastic band to hold in place, put don't like something too tight, or the spandex type that comform to the face, just a loose fit and was curious how this fit, comfortable or not? Thanks

My darling sweet precious lovely wife makes mine for me out of cammoed material and  elastic. I get a half mask with full closure on back so that mosquitoes are not welcome. I do wear glasses but these fit usually on the upper lip to keep glasses from fogging. Make several pair while you are at it.

Have it, don't like it. The backing it white and the mask tends to roll at the bottom exposing the lining. It also offers little in the way of coverage, if you pull it high in the back it's too tight and then it's not long enough to cover the back of your neck.
100% agreement: to cover your ears you have to bull the back higher on your head which makes this mask very tight. Have not had the problem with rolling yet. The little cheapy mesh type masks with the wire on top of the nose is my favorite.

I have not found a real good mask in some 30 years of hunting,  especially when you add glasses into the deal.   I think home-made are the best thing going,  I might go back to face-paint.

I'm going to try face paint this year because I have to wear glasses this year while hunting, I never used them before, my eyes must be getting worse  :(

It is by far the most comfortable mask I have ever used.  I like it because you cannot see through the mesh.  The mesh masks i have had in the past you can see through them.  I have not had any problems with them being tight or rolling up.

Haven't worn mine hunting yet, but I really like it.  Can't see through it, is very light, and I think it is plenty long.  Had my MIL fold down and sew around the eyes some so I can pull it over my ears.  I am anxious to wear it and not at all afraid to wear it.

I rarely even put mine on.  I just pull the bill of my hat down low. Between that and half my face on the gun stock theres really not much less for him to see other than the end of the gun barrel  ;D Dont wear gloves either unless its cold

I love mine.  Its long enough in the front that it covers you up well.  I have a couple that would leave some bare spots of skin or under shirts.  Its also nice that it breats well.  It wont fog my binocs when glassing.

Only thing they shld see is a small dark hole lol. I've honestly never had any problems though. As long as I don't move what can they see? My right hand is hidden mostly by the gun and my left hand is under my gun between my knee

After a couple bad reviews, I was hesitant to buy one, but got one anyways. And I'm glad I did, as so far I really like it a lot. I like the fact I can just wear it around my neck and quickly pull up into postion, and it's fairly comfortable.

As for the edge rolling up exposing  white, I'm not seeing it roll, but can understand in a hurried situation where the white edge gets folded out. So to take care of this possible issue I just lightly colored the white band with Sharpies. It will bleed through if done darkly and pressed hard, so just lightly use the side of the tip. Here's what it looks like before completely finishing, as I'll only do the front up to the ears, not concened with the back.

Thanks for some good reviews that swayed me, as I really do like it, Thanks
