I didn't know much about Camphor burl before today. I bought this piece of wood because it had some real good grain and some red eyes. Well as soon as I started turning it the smell was strong. I knew the smell but couldn't place it until my wife got home and I showed her. She said thats the stuff they make Campho fenique(sp) you dummy. That was it. Also the smell was the strongest when I would turn the red eyes in the wood. This call turned out great and sounds better than it looks. Going to the classies.

Nice one! Well done Joe
Very nice! My chest just cleared up!
Beautiful caller Joe, usually the smell is worth it!
Great looking trumpet Joe! You can call it the medicine stick. If the inside was left uncoated, it probably would clear up your chest like drenalinld said. I always thought that campo pheniqe was man made and not from a tree. Guess I'm a dummy too.
Good lookin caller ,,,, some nice wood :icon_thumright:

That is a pretty call. You do not see many things made from Camphor wood. It is one of the hardest trees in the world. I had a running battle with a camphor I was trying to get rid of; it took a couple of years to get the mission accomplish. Finally pull the stump out with my pickup.
Another beauty Joe. That turned out awesome.
Nice trumpet Joe :icon_thumright:
