Title: Youth Hunt turkey load question
Post by: panhandlehunter on March 07, 2012, 02:38:44 PM
I am taking an 11 year old hunting this Saturday for the Florida youth hunt.  I have a 12 ga.  870  with a jellyhead choke and normally shoot nitros.  Those shells kick pretty hard so I was wondering if anyone knows an alternative for this set up that won't kick quite as much?

Any 2.75" #6 lead will kick less and should kill out to 30 yards.

As long as you don't tell the kid that those shells are gonna kick he will never know as long as he is shooting at a turkey. If he needs a few practice shots let him shoot a few dove loads before the hunt.  When you go hunting put nitros in the gun and he will never know.
