Title: Cleaning a Sumtoy choke
Post by: gersus on March 05, 2012, 11:56:29 AM
Got my Sumtoy in today for my Supernova!!!

At first glance, wow! I've never seen a choke like this one!

My question is for those who have a choke like this. With all those rings I would think it would clog up real easily. Does it? And how is the best way that you've found to clean it?

I thought about calling William but this way it's good info for all of us.

Thanks!

william could prob give you the best info as he makes them, however for mine i just use a 20guage brush and Hoppes#9 then a clean cotton patch. i use a 20g brush because if you use a 12g brush it will bend the brush all up. 20g just fits right in mine.

follow that up with an alcohol swap to make sure i got all the oils out of it.

Called Sumtoy. He said to just use a wire brush and it'll clean up just fine.

yep, pitjeep, he did recommend brake cleaner.

He also recommended running a patch with alcohol down the barrel.

Can't wait to try out this choke! hopefully tomorrow if it isn't too windy.
