Title: Time to sight in
Post by: Full Flight on March 03, 2012, 02:24:06 PM
OK----- I just put a new red dot sight on my Mossberg 835.  Now it is time to sight it in.  My plan was to start out at about 15 yards with some standard 2-3/4"   6's and get the gun sighted in, before I moved to the more recoil intensive and much costlier 3-1/2' turkey loads I plan on using.   Once I have the gun sighted in I will pattern the 5 new loads I have purchased (Remington Nitro Mags 6's, Winchester Double X 6's,  Federal Strut Shock 6's, Hevi-13 6's & Nitro Mega Weight quadplex load) with both the Mossberg Choke and the Jelly head choke.  I Plan on patterning at 40 yards.  Does anyone see a fault in my plan?

I would say to shoot the nitros and the hevi 6's out of the jelly head and forget the rest because I would be shocked if anything else you have mentioned would come close to the patterns they will give you.

I use a bore laser from Cabelas that works and has saved me a lot on shells it has adapters that fit all of my rifles and shotguns. Not that expensive and lasts a life time.

Sounds good that jelly with the blends should work well or the # 6's
