Title: Dipping a wood stock
Post by: swamppirate on March 01, 2012, 08:51:39 PM
Has anyone had problems with getting the dip camo to stick on a wood stock? Just wanted to know before I shell out big bucks....

I haven't heard of any problems with dipping guns with wooden stocks. It doesn't stay in the water bath very long.

no problems with wood...have had lots of wood, metal and fiberglass parts dipped over the years....seems to stick to everything....typically, parts are painted with a base color then allowed to dry before the pattern is applied in the dipping process...last thing i had dipped was an old, cheap, birch model 7 bolt action stock...it came out flawless...good luck

swamppirate,

I have the exact same gun that you just received.  I am having it dipped in MO Obsession as we speak.  As southernfly said, they paint a base layer and then dip.  I should have it back early next week and will post pics and let you know what I think.

Post up some pics when you get it dipped cause I am thinking of getting one of my 20 gauges dipped next year.  I am thinking optifade forest camo for now.

No problems on wood. We dip wood regularly.
