What do you think? Are these really wild turkeys? They look like Rios and gobble like Rios. What do y'all think?

I remember Eddie Salter and Alex Rutledge doing that one some old HS videos to Rios. Thats pretty dang cool. Arent you allowed 4 rios in Texas.
I believe that biggest spurs were on the one that cam hanging back. My gun would have kept on barking.

That's basically what I was getting at. I can see wild birds coming down that road, seeing the dekes, hearing the calling and coming in. But, once he switched over to his human voice talking, well, I'm not so sure about that. Wild turkeys I've been around would never tolerate that.
What do y'all think? Wild birds or tame pen raised birds?
It looks like they are Rios to me, the legs are pink. Now, they may be pen raised, but they're background is wild.
Domestic birds have gray legs, even the bronze breed that is colored like wild ones will have gray legs.
It says the video is from TX so my guess is that they are Rios that haven't been hunted much.

I should have that problem this year!! :fud:
I believe it.. unpressured birds out west will act stupid ... Merriams mores so than Rios I think.. but either one will act stupid .. not like Easterns for sure.. I also agree they get bolder and more stupid in groups than they do solo ..
I have no doubt it is real. I killed one of a group of 3 gobblers many years ago on public land, a 2 year old, and when I stood up to retrieve the bird, the other two would did not run away. After walking up on them, they finally walked across the open field into the timber, but never did run or really act scared. If it had been legal, or if I had had companions with me, I've no doubt we could have picked off all 3 one by one.
Another time, again on public land, my hunting buddy got to messing with a single 2 year old by just seeing if he could run him off. We had no decoy out, and were scouting before the season opened. He got to "playing" songs on his mouth call. The turkey did, eventually, leave, but only after we got to laughing so hard we couldn't sit still. He, too, never ran, just finally figured out there was nothing there for him and went on about his business.
TALK ABOUT KICKIN' A GUY WHEN HE IS DOWN..................................
Real
Ive had the same thing happen except they were all jakes. My brother and I were hunting and had a tom and 5 jakes come in. I shot the tom and the jakes hung around. I would yell my brothers name at them and they would gobble every time. We yelled all kinds of things at them. Wish I had a camera with me on that hunt. My brother and I were just a laughing and they keep on gobbling.
I've got some similar footage of Oklahoma jakes, 7 of them, a little less human voice but at one point my buddy did get his cell phone out and they gobbled at it many many times.
I wish I had seen this before my Oklahoma Rio hunt. The first night, I roosted 80 birds, 11 of which were gobblers. Talk about a great opportunity to do something like that!
I met the camera man that called and shot that video, I can't remember his name. He came with Keith Warren to fish a ranch where I worked in central Texas. I had not taken up turkey hunting at the time (I'm guessing that was 2001 or 2002, and he already had the video) and had no idea how remarkable that behavior was. I am sure that the birds were wild, but obviously had not experienced much pressure. I have often thought of that video when I or my hunter shifted in their seat and our gobbler spooked at 50 yards . . .
i would have shot when they were at 20 yards
Hahahahaha!!! Definitely Rios......did the same thing on tape with them last year. A group of jakes.....even meowed like a cat got them fired up!
Love it.
