anyone think they'll come back with a pattern like Mossy Oak bottomland??? I wish I could find some of the original realtree. I think they should go retro and start making it again.
I've always been a realtree guy but man that bottomland camo is hard to pass up. I know its just my opinion but I really like that pattern. I've gone bottomland crazy. I'd really like to have my shotgun dipped.
Any one else gone bottomland crazy?
I've been going Retro myself. From Bottomland, to Drake Old School, to Original Trebark. Before that it was Advantage Classic. It takes me back to a really awesome time in my hunting career.
I love bottom land I am planning on dipping my new Nef 10 gauge in it!! Mossy oak all the way for me!!
I was wondering why everyone is getting into the the retro camo? Any reason behind it? What are we puttin on a fashion show out there?
I have thought for a while that Mossy Oak has been whipping Realtree in the duck camo categpry, but thats JMO
I like the Realtree AP in the fall over the Mossy Oak Break-up but in the spring the Mossy Oak Obsession is my go too camo.
As far as anything retro, the only camo I'd like the see come back would be the old Advantage camo.
I get myself in trouble when I find Bottomland apparel, I love it. Disappears better than anything IMO, You can get away with grey brown and blacks when there is alot of green around, but you cant get away with green when there are only grey brown and black colors around.
Not even compairable
I'm not hard core RT or MO. I enjoy both, but I do tend to wear more MO. I wear bottomland pretty much all year. It is ideal for the area I hunt. Big open woods. When you sit beside that big ole pine tree you blend right in and do not have to worry about looking around to make sure you have enough green around you to blend in. And I assue you, my turkeys notice something not of the ordinary. :OGani:
If I recall, in the 80's and early 90's realtree had a full "tree bark" style pattern. I do not remember what it was called. I remember having a pair over coveralls in that pattern.

Bottomland does for a hunter what a deer's coloration does for it.
Is it gray, is it brown, or is it green? Fits in anywhere and is a great all around pattern. I wear both Realtree Hardwoods Green in the Spring and Bottomland, but, if I am going somewhere where I am not familiar with the terrain, I will wear Bottomland because I know that I will fit in anywhere.
Great stuff.
I do most of my turkey hunting in the big woods. My favorite camo is the old Realtree Advantage Timber. I wish they would bring the pattern back.
I'd like to see the MO Forrest Floor come back.

I'm a Mossy Oak guy through and through but Realtree had a winner with that pattern!
Love me some Bottomland.

haha now you just need some music and a catwalk...
QuoteLove me some Bottomland.
I want my gun dipped! My gun is in real tree ap now but after turkey season I'm going to have it done!
Man those guns in Bottomland looked awesome!!
Its cool to see guys as picky about camo as I am. I am Realtree and Advantage max-4 through and through. The Realtree with the Midwest timber just matches really well. I do like the MO Duck Blind Camo but you will not find me wearing MO very often. I do wear a MO Brush under armour type shirt turkey hunting sometimes, but I just couldn't turn down the sale, so I bought it.
I've always liked realtree stuff, Xtra brown and the advantage classic were my favorites.
I'm switching out all my camo to NaturalGear and NaturalGear SCII. I like the idea of their camo and it works very well, IMO.
Mossy Oak has nothing on Realtree APG. Take a swatch of each and place them both in the same place, anywhere in the country and take a pic. APG will blend better more often. :)

I think you are thinking of realtree brown leaf and grey leaf. I had the brown leaf when I was a kid.

Yea, that sounds right. I think I still have an old turkey vest somewhere in that pattern as well. It was my pawpaw's. Or it might have even been a pattern before the brown-leaf with just the bark pattern w/o the intermitten leaves in the design.

I'm right there with you. Most of my season is spent in N. MS so Bottomland is ideal before everything greens up. I then will switch over as everything starts coming to life near mid April. I just wish that more manufacturers made their clothes is Bottomland. I love the Ol Tom line that is similar to Russell's treklite series, but MAN, Ol Tom is expensive for what you get. I wish the Treklite line would make some Bottomland apparel.
As for Realtree... To each his own sort of like the Ford/Chevy thing. I'm a MO guy!!!!!

OUCH !

I like any pattern that breaks your outline,I have been wearing realtree ap hd for several, not because i don't like mo i have just bought some mo bottom land. all this stuff will work as long as we pay attention to where and how we set our self up,but one will work better than the other depending on the make up of the terrain we are hunting. personal preference is just that, most of the time I mix it together and it works good for me that way.
Rebelyell those guns look SWEET! I wish I bought my SX3 in that other than duck blind now those are very sweet lookin guns :icon_thumright: :icon_thumright: :icon_thumright:
the eyes set off the bottomland
I also like bottomland. When i got my maxus i chose it in bottomland because it will blend in well in the duck blind as well as the turkey woods!
I like me some bottomland as well but MOST IMPORTANTLY- BE FREAKIN STILL and most any camo will work.
Definitely have to be still. Don't get me wrong, I like APG and Max-4 but mossy oak has caught my eye this year.
I was looking through my old turk clothes and many of it needs replaced...so I ended up buying a matching set of bottomland clothings. I purchased pants, jacket and vest.....all in bottom land. Oh yeah, also got a hat in BL.
Was going to buy gloves, but the shipping was more than the gloves so the brown jerseys will have to do.
I feel BL is one of the best patterns one can have when sitting up against the tree. I also like the treebark camo as well.
Bottomland Freak here! MackPW is or was offering Bottomland in the Treklite series of clothing a few weeks ago. I ordered a shirt and pants from them and man the stuff looks great. No doubt it will work! :z-guntootsmiley:
Anyone every try blending more than one brand/type of camo? I usually wear different pants and top and it seems to do better breaking my silhouette than wearing one type only.

I always wear one pattern on my pants and a different one on my shirt
the old advantage timber early and when it starts greening out, switch to a MO obbession shirt
