Mike Yingling makes some great pot calls, I recently bought a flamed osage copper over glass pot call from him and its all turkey.

There are tons of great callmakers to choose from. I almost feel bad picking only one or two. That said, it's tough to beat Scott Witter's box calls (culpeper on here). I've always like Daryl Slaton's pot calls- I don't know if he still gets on here much, but his ebay page is http://myworld.ebay.com/slatoncustomgamecalls/

Another option is to give the gift a really personalized touch and have a callmaker make a picture call for you. It will have a glass playing surface with a picture on the glass soundboard inside the call. As long as you have an image that works in a circle and your friend will like, it will come out fully functional and look great. Here's one I made as a special gift for myself:

Daryl Slaton or a Kaiser pot call are awesome. Gary Anderson from Daybreak Turkey Calls makes some of the best pot calls as well.

Box calls: Many to choose from. Two of the best without a wait would be Russell Beard or Bob Harwell. I have a Twisting Creek box call in my vest as well. All are great call makers.

I don't know that there is a best call maker. There are some call makers on here that I am sure make some great calls. I just don't have one of their calls yet.

Maybe it's me, but if your surname is Slaton, do have to make turkey calls? I now know of 3 builders by that name!

Thats funny. I didn't even know there were other Slaton's that turkey hunted much less make turkey calls. Daryl does make a nice call.
