Title: Winchester Model 120 Ranger
Post by: jdbuckshot on February 29, 2012, 09:13:37 AM
i just purchased my first dedicated 20ga turkey gun,  i have done a 10ga, and a 12 ga, build with great results,

what i pruchased is a very nice winchester pump,  youth model,  120 ranger 20 ga.  2 3/4" and 3"   came with modified and extender full chock.  .566 Constriction,  not ported,  no names or writing on the choke other than "LEAD ONLY .566"

any body had any experience with this gun?   contemplating drilling and tapping the reciver for a rail and a red dot.

Going to run some mag blends through it today if its not raining,  and try to get my hands on some Federal heavy #7's,  i bet they to well through this factory choke.

any input on this set up would be great.

If it is dark and has two notches at the top my guess is Hastings. They say lead only and have the choke size stamped . If it is indeed a Hastings choke they will also handle H-13 and Fed HW loads but it is up to you to decide. I would first try a Federal FC #6 if using lead only with that choke.

There are no grooves or wad catchers inside a Hastings wad.
