Should I expect a much higher pellet count with polishing? How much should I expect to spend?
I did my winchester 1300 awhile back. I was averaging 100 pellets. After polishing I was averaging 130 with winchester hv #6. I did not compare my 835 when doing this so I don't have any other comparison.

its a pretty easy endeavor..well worth the time spent...money wise providing you have rods drill and brushes prolly 30 bucks or so..the jb's is bout 25 bucks shipped from brownells..hope this helps..good luck

I just did 3 20ga barrels this week. I didn't do a before pattern test and still need to take to the pattern boards this weekend, but you can tell a noticable difference in before and after just by looking down the barrel. Worth it in my opinion. 2 of the 20ga barrels had distinct impressions whether it was from where they stamped the wording on the outside of the barrel or welded on the rib. All of those imperfections came out of the inside of the barrel after polishing.

Otis, I started out using the directions in the thread above. Granted it was working, but not at the rate I wanted to get the deep indentions from the welds and letter stamping out. My buddy had a 12ga polishing brush he had bought to use on his over/under. He told me he was done with the brush and we should try it on the 20ga. It worked like a champ. Very stiff at first but after mulitple runs it compressed to the size of a 20ga. Meaning it will never work in the 12ga again, but it works well for the 20ga. It was MUCHO faster using the brush. I had completed 2 of the barrels with the steps above. I went back and re-did the two finished barrels.
The 12ga barrel brush just replaced the course polishing step or step 1 in the instructions above. I did got back and polish with the finer compound using the scotch bright to finish the barrels. They are really slick now. Looking forward to patterning them.
