Post by: Vaturkeyhntr on February 27, 2012, 03:21:41 PM
Just wondering if anyone has hunted in the area of hinesville,  ga?? A friends dad lives there and told us to come hunt, just wondering what is to expect in this area and if it holds good turkey numbers. Thanks

Hinesville is right outside of Fort Stewart which is a large Army base and they allow hunting on the base. I haven't hunted much in the area for which you are referring to but I know there are turkeys in the area, how many is an unknown.
If you come down you won't be to far from Sumtoy Chokes and could drive over and pay William a visit should you like.
I will say that Georgia birds won't answer to your calls so you'll want to swing by and pick me up first.  ;)

I hunt around that area. You will have birds.  lots of planted pines with some hardwood bottoms mixed in that area.
