If you guys understand how deep the hatred runs sometimes between long-standing college rivals, then you will appreciate this story. I won't mention the rivalry, but suffice it to say it goes back to the civil war. So as this weekend approached I have been enjoying good natured ribbing with my rival fans on a sports forum board. I have always tried to conduct myself as a gentleman on these boards and ignore the idiots we call trolls. After my team came out on top of perhaps the biggest game of our rivalry, I was conversing with the losing fans. Instead of rubbing it in, I was complimenting their team, players, etc. and told them how proud they should be of their team's performance. As trolls would show up from my team and try to be mean-spirited I called them out on it. One particular poster from my rival team expressed her appreciation for my actions and sportsmanship. Come to find out she and her husband raise cattle. As any turkey hunter knows, cattle farms usually mean TURKEYS! One thing lead to another and I now have permission to hunt 160 acres of prime turkey land. After speaking to her on the phone she mentioned that nobody hunts there anymore and these turkeys seem to be taking over their farm! She said they gobble constantly and she sees flocks of up to 50 birds all the time! She also mentioned that they have two four wheelers I can use when I get there. I am pinching myself because this sounds like a dream or a cruel joke! I got a feeling it is a dream indeed. I asked her how she could be so nice to a fan of her hated rival and she just said that she knew I was a gentleman and a stand up person by the way I conducted myself with my "enemies" on these forums. She has NO IDEA how happy she made me. We spoke on the phone today and she invited me out today but I couldn't make it. I will be meeting her and her husband next weekend and they will drive me around and show me the lay of the land. you can't tell by the picture but there are two creeks that run through this piece of land and on the South are large crop fields and on the North and East is big timber. Can you believe it?!

If it works out you are the winner. Being respectful does have it's rewards and can come at the least expected times and places. Good luck and let us know!!
