Give an approximate on how many birds you have taken. I have been lucky and taken two birds in two years of hunting. Scoot
4 for me, 2 last season and 2 the season before. This season I'm going to be more serious than ever, I'm hoping to get my limit of three as well as helping a buddy get his first
0 so far... This will be my first year...
Just wanted to tag this post for interest...
I'm sitting on 88 I've killed and 27 called in that were shot by others.
Next year will be my 20th year and I'm hoping to zap my 100th.......all but one bird has been taken with friction calls
I have been super lucky and have been blessed with good places to hunt here at home and being able to do a little travel over the past 7-8 years
I've kept all the fans or I would't have a clue....my dad, friends, and wife have shot the others. I've missed more than I care to admit
Three for me in five seasons. One Jake and two longbeards.
5, all longbeards. Started hunting in 2001.
I have killed one Spring bird, and four Fall birds.
Been turkey hunting off and on for over 10 years.
Kentucky had it's first spring turkey season in the early 70's. I hunted a few years and didn't even hear or see a gobbler, I did see a few hens. I lost interest and didn't hunt for several years. Then in the late 80's I started turkey hunting again. A big difference then those early years, we had a lot more turkeys.
Short seasons, 1 bird limit, half day hunting, felt very fortunate just to see or hear a bird. Then KYFW gave us a longer season and a two bird limit, all day hunting, it was great. I started hunting a couple of other states and am lucky to get to hunt a place that has bonus birds. Out of the 70 Or so longbeards I have taken 15 of them were in the last 2 years.
Well when I started hunting back in "84 when the first season open here in WI, you were lucky if you could draw a tag. I drew one in "84 and missed a bird. Then dew another tag in "87 and took a Jake. "92 was the first longbeard I took and also took a back pocket full of lead from some clown that couldn't tell the difference from a bird that walked in and one being carried out over your shoulder. The same thing happend in "99 and I was waring a blaze orange hat and had the orange flag down on my vest, but that's public hunting if it moves shoot and keep shooting until it stops, then go look what you shot. That clown took off running and never came to look, the wardens finally caught him and had a field day with him, he was stupid enough to brag about it in a bar. I hunt mostly all public land because you can't get in on private land unless you related. Anyway from 2002 I've drawn tags every year and have taken a bid ever since. Now the population is strong enough to get extra tags in just about all our zones except one and in that zone the season just opened up 3 years ago. Now we have 30,000 extra tags available for sales, but we have over 400,000 turkey hunters in this state, so you need to know how to hunt high pressured birds. Last year was my best year with 5 total birds, 4 toms and a hen. Hopefully this year will be another safe and good year.

I'd say you've found your "passing gear" :you_rock:
Started hunting turkeys in 1969, there were lots of turkeys where i grew up
in Pa.Lucky for me my dad was a good teacher with alot of Patience. I don't have a clue how many hens i've killed over the years. But i think i've got
Seventeen gobblers over the last five years in three states. Not sure how many overall , I'll have to think about that. Growing up turkey hunting with my dad while everbody else was bunny and pheasant sure was fun and i credit all my success to the man i sit long hours with and taught me everthing he knew about turkey hunting. I just wonder how many he got over the years. He got his last turkey two years ago at the age of 81.

Don't call that jack a**. I can lighten it up a bit.
I just counted my beards. I have 16, and I'm not counting the one my Dads Pomeranian ate, or the one the mice ate.
To be fair I'm counting the 4 beard gobbler as 1 beard.
Killed a few hens along the way too.

;D Just fine, so a few got away, where they knew they were safe from someone actually shooting them.
