Title: Choke recommendations for Mossberg 535
Post by: turkeywhisperer on February 16, 2012, 07:12:29 PM
Hey guys... New member here.  I just bought a Mossberg 535 with the 20" barrel.  The guy that owned it before me shot 3-1/2 #6 and said it was a turkey killing machine.  It currently has a .660 factory choke which I am looking to upgrade.  I will be shooting 3" Winchester high velocity #5's and was wondering what choke some of would recommend me trying.  Any input would be appreciated.

first off welcome aboard OG
second, have you tried a shot with the ammo you plan to hunt with through the .660 to see how it patterns?
I would try that first and see how it does

I'd check that choke again.  535's come with a .670 factory choke.

I've shot an IC .660, Jellyhead .660, Kick's .665, and a Rhino .660 in mine.  The IC shot fantastic, the Jellyhead good, the Kick's okay, and the Rhino is flat out awesome.
