Title: 3 inch 1 3/4 oz hevi #6s question
Post by: pogo on February 16, 2012, 03:17:06 PM
Does anyone remember how well these shells patterned?  I have a BPS 28" 3 inch chamber with an indian creek .665.  I have been using the 1 5/8 3 inch shells (which worked pretty well) but i am out.  I have a chance to buy a couple of boxes of the older 1 3/4 inch shells considerably cheaper than the 2oz ones.  I seem to remember people doing quite well with these compared to the others.  Any advice?

Are you speaking of the Old White 1-3/4oz loads?

Those are the most efficient factory turkey loads ever put on the market.

If you can get some that don't suffer buffer leakage, I'd jump on them. I always get higher numbers out of those old shells vs the 3-2-6.  Probably have nearly a case of them in my loading room, but will probably end up cutting them apart for the shot rather than shooting them :D
