Title: Schedule of Traveling Call
Post by: davisd9 on February 16, 2012, 08:35:45 AM
Hey Guys.  Here is a schedule of the traveling call.  If this does not work out for someone then please let me know and we will try to work it out.  It looks like it will take up all of our seasons and I have tried to do it in a manner that it will get to each one of us quickly and most directly for our hunting dates.

Traveling Call Schedule:

Busabeak: March 17 - 22

Cayonhunter: March 24 - 29

C J Stahly:  March 31 - April 5

tcook7: April 7 - 12

davisd9: April 14 - 19

deacon: April 21 - 26

trkehunr93: April 28 - May 3

JVA54: May 5 - 10

Boomer: May 12 - 17

M, Yingling: May 19 - 24

If you kill a bird, or guide someone to a bird, with the call then please take some breast feathers and put them in a zip lock bag.  Add the bag to the package when you mail it to the next person.  If everyone can PM me their addresses I will create a word document and send it to dirt road ninja so that he can include it in the call package so we know where it goes next.  I will also create a document for each of us to write up a little journal entry of our hunts with the call.  That way we can all see how each others hunts went with the call.  Please use a permanent marker to sign the back of the call before you send it off.

If you see that you are going to be finished with the call sooner than your ending date with it than please go ahead and send it to the next person so that we can make sure they get it on time so they can use it. Thanks!

Thanks again for getting this together. Good idea putting a couple days in between each hunter getting the call. I'm looking forward to the season and hopefully tagging a bird with the traveling call.

M, Yingling suggests to mail the call using a small flat rate priority box with tracking and it would be little over $6 bucks, but this would be the fastest way of shipping the call to each other.  Cannot wait to get this traveling call going and get it myself to hunt with!

The call is on its way to Bustabeak. It is a sweet little call that's full of turkey. I was able to coax a few gobbles with it on the 10th, but unfortunately I was unable to bring the bird in. It was in my pocket when my son killed his first bird. The birds were on us fast after we struck the first gobble, and I was afraid to move too much with birds insight. I really enjoyed playing it and am going to add a few calls from Mike to my vest as well as my son's future vest.

I got the call today.  I like it.  Nice little piece.  I hope Davisd, myself, and one of my other friends get to pack an entire gallon bag full of breast feathers into the box.

Again...to Mike Yingling....A big thank you

Seen our strutter yesterday evening pushing the hens to another part of the farm with the other longbeard in tow.  Did not see many today, a couple hens.  Did see 4 jakes yesterday also.  Have not walked around since Monday when I saw all the birds, all other sightings were just riding around very quickly or leaving out from the house.  Still feel good about our chances as long as the weather is good and the wind is not too high.  Hope you get to put some feathers in the bag!

I've been checking in on this thread everyday since I found out the call is missing. This really pisses me off to think someone has not played along and went by the rules and have basically stolen this call. Damn I'm mad!!! :angry9:

Calm down.  I am figuring out what has happened. There is no need to get worked up and allow emotions to run wild.  I apologize to all that did not receive the call to use while hunting.

Psalms 37:8 Refrain from anger, and forsake wrath!  Fret not yourself; it tends only to evil.

Proverbs 15:18 A hot-tempered man stirs up strife,  but he who is slow to anger quiets contention.

It's going to resurface. I'll bet someone got busy with other things and forgot to pass it on. Davisd9 will hunt it down. I've been busy and forgot to take care of things before.

I have located the call.  It was an honest mistake.  The person had it in their truck and just forgot about it.  I think we have all had situations like this happen to us.  Once I again,  I am sorry to those that did not get to hunt with it.  It is being shipped to me and I will mail it to the next person on the list so it can at least be signed and played with by everyone on the team.  Thanks!

Good Deal! Glad it you was able to find it. Sorry for getting a little wound up about it. I still wished everyone on the team could've hunted with it.

I now have the call and am going to get it shipped to Virginia soon.  I will let Trkehunr93 know when it is on the way with a tracking number.  I apologize to all that did not get to hunt with it but it was truly a honest mistake as to why it was not sent out.  I would love for everyone to sign the call and play with it some.  Once it has gotten to everyone and signed I ask if WNY Bowhunter will let me know when he gets it and when he has had the chance to play with it send it back to me so I can do the random drawing of who gets the calls.

If you hunt in the fall and would like to use it then I ask that the winner of the call will ship it out to those that did not get a chance to actually hunt with it, so they can use it in the woods.  I once again I apologize that I did not do a better job of keeping up with the traveling call.  Next year if we decide to do it again I will make sure to do a better job of making sure it gets out in case someone gets busy and forgets.

No problem Donald, things happen.  Just PM me when it's on its way.  I like the offer of using it this fall, I definitely am game if the winner is.
