lol this will be a fun experience
you can create your own banner anyway you deem fit, just be sure to send the final copy of it over to oldgobbler so he can resize it to spec or say its good to go at the size you like.
If you get some images and text ideas i can help someone, it wont be prof but I can monkey around with it and see if it works for you.
