Title: Rem 870 SM JH .665
Post by: Longshanks on February 14, 2012, 05:06:53 PM
Just bought a brand new Rem 870 SM, Shadowgrass Camo, 28" bbl and picked up a JH .665.  Im hoping i did ok getting the .665 rather than the .660. Bass pro didnt have the .660.  Anyone have any recommendation on loads out of this set up.?(Hevi or PB)  The only thing i have done to this gun is deep clean the barrel and i couldnt believe the mess that came out of a brand new barrel..What numbers are people seeing out of this setup with Hevi 13 3.5/2.25/6's  and Hevi 13  3.5/2.25/7's.  Just curious what sort of numbers to expect before is start blasting away.

You did fine that longer bbl will be fine with 665 and Hevi.

Thanks, thats what i was hoping with the longer barrel. I have less than 400.00 in the gun including the choke so it was kinda hard to pass up..I was hoping to develop some good Hevi 6 patterns whether thats with the 3/2/6's or 3.5/2.25/6's.

i shoot 3.5 #6 HS in a 665 JH and get 240-260 @ 40 in 10" circle.

Thats awesome..did your point of aim/ point of impact go off and require any kind of sights? I'm leaning toward just shooting double beads. Try to avoid putting allot of more money into it. I guess if it goes off I will throw on some tru glo iron sights with the windage adjustments .

I have a 870 sm with a 23" barrel it gets 160-170 with 3" H-13 #6s and 180-190 with 3.5"h-13#6's and a jellyhead .660. I will be polishing the barrel on that gun here real soon so those numbers should go up. Your .665 should do really good in the 870.
