Title: Charring Strikers for slate calls

I got the idea for charring my strikers from "Turkey Hunting with Charlie Elliott"...I like the way charred strikers grip the call surface. Maybe that's just weird of me :o

That is an old school trick for a striker that does not grip well and it can be very effective. Most of my strikers I wouldn't dream of doing that to and they don't need it anyway. It's not weird, though.

I char some of my lower end strikers to get a day or two of better grip out of them.  However, your higher end striker, you may destroy the design
