I did a quick search but did not see a thread about beards, so if this is a repeat, I'm sorry!
As the title says, whats the longest bearded bird you have taken?
My longest is 12 1/2 inches. I wish I new how to measure thickness, two years ago I killed one with an absolute paint brush!
12.5" for me also, except mine was not a brush, was pretty skinny.
10.5 for me.
11.5"
I have two beards that are 11" and I got both birds on consecutive mornings in MO. I couldn't believe it.
Turkeys have beards?? ;)
I'm a spur man myself, gotta love them looooong hooks!
Oh yeah, this is a beard thread, sorry. ;D
Longest beard, 13.5 and I just gotta say (like it really makes any difference) that I killed that tom on public land, Backbone Creek, Greene Co. Alabama. :happy0064:
Side note......his spurs we're less than an inch long. You would expect a SagDaddy like that would have been toting some serious spurs. Nope, just a two year old. :'( lol

Have 2 that are 12.5". One of them came with 1/2" spurs, but the other came with 1.5" spurs. So apparently there is no correlation between beard and spur length.
11 3/4
10 1/2"
One of my birds had a single strand that reached 12". The rest of the strands were in the 10.5-11 inch range. I still called him a 12"er. Seems like the rest of.my.birds are in the 9" range.

11 1/2"...some nice photos and trophies here...CONGRATS TO ALL My preference ... a long set of hooks.
My Longest beard was 11 1/4" Unfortunately our dog, who has never tore up anything in her life, found my beard collection one day and only took one out to be a chew toy. It was my 11 1/4" beard!!! I did manage to epoxy it back together some what. It is now 11 1/8".
11 1/2" with no spurs
11 3/8 for me
11 3/4
12 1/4"
11"
TRKYHTR
I'm slacking in this category, mine is 10 1/2 inch paint brush.
Out of the 29 longbeards I have dirt napped, probably 26 of them were 8.5 to 9.5 inches. I never could break the 10" mark. Well in one season, back to back weekends I killed three toms. 10.5", 11" and 12.5". All of them had 1.25 to 1.5" spurs.
I am a spur man personally, but it about killed me when a rat got my 12.5 incher!
I can't break 11".

Nah, that was years ago, I've seen 2 maybe 3 since then. :)

I still don't have one over 10. 9.5 is my biggest out of 15 or so. Maybe this year.
11" for me. Killed him in a double with a buddy last year and my buddy's bird had a 12.5 " beard
The longest beard would be 10.5 inches. However, that bird was sporting two 10.5 inch beards. So does that count as 21 inches ;D
11 1/4 inches.
Right past the 12"mark....no paintbrush though.
Only 10 1/4 for me out here in Washington state. Oh well, any long beard is a good bird in my book. Congrats to all of you who have shot some monsters though!
12" with the bow !
12.5 also.... longest beard that i have personally called in was for a buddy of mine that measurd 13.75.
11 1/4
11 1/2...........
13"
12 1/4
11.75"
11.25" paint brush
10.75
12.5
My best was 10.5 inches as best I recall. Never killed one near 12" I know that for sure.
My longest was 11 3/4. Was also my first spring gobbler. Keep trying to beat it every year.
11 1/4 in.
12.5 called him in for a buddy who had never turkey hunted before. He blew it and I had to kill him on the run. 20 min later I have 2more long beards infront of us at 30 yards and he missed. Oh the joys of taking newbies.
two over 12
Two birds with 12.5" beards. One was a normal thinkness beard i shot in Tennessee. The other was a massive paintbrush I shot in Missouri!
11.75 late season NC public land.
Shot had him in full strut at seven steps.

Would love to break 12, but I sure wouldn't pass on another 11!
12.25" and sporting 1.5" spurs
