Title: ported choke

this is probably a dumb question but im new at all this is it alright to use a ported choke with a ported barrell.

Yes, No Problems with using both together.

Sure. You can use a ported choke even if you have Ports on the barrel.

Ported barrel is about the only way to help the recoil other then the forcing cone.

Good Advice from all.

Reduce recoil  with the barrel

Strip the wad with the choke

Best of both worlds

If you are shooting a semi-auto there is a chance that shells will not feed properly. By using magnum loads it is more likely not to be a problem.

I use a ported Preston Pittman tube on my ported Mossberg 835. I think the combination helps with recoil. Not such a factor in the field, but it sure makes patterning less uncomfortable. I've still got the factory tube that came with the gun. It's not ported.
