Title: Is this a full choke ?
Post by: BowBendr on February 11, 2012, 09:21:25 PM
I have a 1950's model Stevens 94B single shot that i'm going to set-up for my son to use this season.

It is a 12 ga. chambered 2 3/4" only and it has no markings on the barrel at all except for a small stamping on the left side that says "proof tested steel."

The exit dia. of the muzzle mics out at .690. I have no way to mic. the inside of the barrel ahead of the chamber.
Assuming it's .729, that's a reduction of over .35 and that technically would make this barrel a full choke barrel.
Am I correct ?

Any advice on a load for shots 30 yds. and under ? Been looking at the 2 3/4 Hevi 6's, but have no experience with non-interchangeable choke barrels this old........

I'm not sure about the diameter or can tell you if its a full choke or not but you may try a lead 5 or 6 through it. I'm not trying to get your hopes up but I have an old Stevens pump that will blow holes in a pop can at 25 yards with squirrel shells. Those old guns will surprise you sometimes.
