Last year we had a thread about bluegrass/newgrass music. Since then I have found a couple of artists/groups I hadn't heard of before. If you like like this style of music, check these 2 out.
Sarah Jarosz - Ring Them Bells (by Bob Dylan)

Crooked Still - Ain't No Grave
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3SSUYVAv_dM (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3SSUYVAv_dM)
After listening to some clips of each artist/band on Amazon, I had to download an album from each.
In checking out their websites, I am amazed at how educated these folks are. (That's not a poke at the style of music - I love this stuff!) The banjo player from Crooked Still has his doctorate degree from MIT. :o
Man thanks for sharing. That is my kinda music. Liked them both but the second was my favorite.
Here is some more.
I listen to this whole album at least once a month.
The Steele Drivers

This one is live. You know you rock when you sound as good live as you do record/edited.

I really like the sound of Chris Thile, the mandolin player from Nickel Creek. Some of his more recent stuff is very technical - kinda out there. This is a band that he has been with more recently.

More folk, but Gillian Welch and David Rawlings have been getting worn out the past several weeks on my playlists.

Also, if anyone has nothing to due for an hour and a half search for "Down from the Mountain" on youtube. It's the artist who performed for the O Brother Where Art Thou movie.
Gillian Welch
Ralph Stanley
John Hartford
Christian Thomas King
Emmylou Harris
Alyson Krause
There are more that I can't remember, but its good listening.

Thile is awesome. His collaboration with Yo Yo Ma, Stuart Duncan, and Edgar Meyer is great. It's called Goat Rodeo Sessions.
