Making some inquiries as I have a fair amount of patterning to do this spring

Dude, just get a 10" embroidery hoop for a couple of bucks.  I'm sure Wally World has them, or you can go here

Of course, if you want to spend $77 on a piece of glass, that's your perogative

Go to any glass shop in your town and see if they have a piece of scrap that will fit your needs.   Shouldn't be any more than $20.  

If ya find out let me know ....I want one, but not $77 bad.  I've tried to have my local glass place cut me a 1/16" piece of plexi glass, but they never call me back.  Guess they don't wanna do any business

Why not just use plexiglass??

I want plexi glass.  Me and glass don't mix well...

this is what I was planning on.. patterning costs so much already

I have a 10" Plexiglass circle with a 3" circle in it that I use most of the time.

If you want to measure a 20" fringe pattern, you can use a solid 10" circle with just a small hole in the center and attach a string, of any length to it ( a knot and super glue works) and then use a pen and take it out to 20" or whatever distance you like, to determine what the fringe pattern is for that area.

The advantage to a piece of glass or plexiglass is that it's easier to slide around on paper to locate the best patterns and then easier keep in place as you draw your circle(s).

We have a couple of glass shops in town but they had a hard time making really smooth round circles. It's just not something that they do. It took a few times but they finally got it right.

I think they charged something like $10.00 for a couple.

P.S. Jim Ward at Warbird Turkey Calls made some of the most beautiful glass circles I've ever seen. I'd recommend that you contact him via a PM and see what he'd charge to make one for you.

At the hardware store I work at, plexi is more expensive than glass. Go figure.....

Just like Slick said, real handy.  You can move it around, see and center your pattern, and then draw 2 circles without a string, the center moving.  I already have a 10" circle I was given from a member here, and it really is awesome!!!  Just would really be nice to have a nice, smooth circle with both.  Doesn't have to be glass, but last time I tried to cut plexiglass, it was a disaster.

Go to wally world or check in your cabinets for a ten inch plate they are real easy to find and then just draw around em..

You should just get a clear glass dinner plate.
