Title: Southland Calls??
Post by: Chris Downs on February 05, 2012, 11:51:51 PM
Anybody use them or have any experience with them?  I know Pollard and McGraw are with them now...always like their signature stuff at Woodhaven.  Just wondered how the Southland line of calls was.  Thanks.

Their yellowheart crystal sounds really good,  it is used by one of the top friction callers in the country for calling.

Their boxes are sweet too. I've seen one they make that uses no chalk, so, so sweet sounding. I was scared to run it , it was close to $200. Very high quality stuff.  :icon_thumright:

Ended up trying them out this weekend and above all the other friction calls I tried from Halloran(great calls by the way), Dead End, Hooks, Hendershot, Cody, and others, I ended up buying the Elite Slate(Pollard) and Elite Crystal(McGraw).  Both just seemed to fit in my hands the best and had an unbelievable sound.  Also bought the two McGraw Sig. mouth calls.

The Southland Green Machine Aluminum call has an excellent pitch and great rollover.

They make some awesome calls. I got their yellowheart crystal last year and love it. I just bought a mouth call and a classic ii cherry bronze call (40.00) from turkeyhuntingsecrets.com. they have  accurate sound files of their calls and many are on sale.
