Title: snake boots
Post by: harvester on February 05, 2012, 10:37:47 AM
I am in the market for a pair of snake boots. I'm replacing the ones I have. What do you guys suggest or not suggest? I am thinking danner or rocky and maybe LaCross. Has anybody used the danner, if so what did you like or not like? Rocky likes or dislikes? LaCross likes or dislikes?

Any other opinions?

Do yourself a favor and go ahead and mark rocky off the list. I have three different pair and stlye of rocky boots and none of the three lasted more than a half of a season. They leak like crazy.

the pair that I have now leak like crazy also. I deal with a little wet feet but after awhile it gets old.

My Rocky's are going on their 4th season.  No leaks, awesomely comfortable.

Something I want to add, I to have had Rocky boots that leak.  They were the ones with the Guaranteed ROCKY waterproof construction.

The boots I currently wear are the Rocky® 15'' Rattler Zip Snake GORE-TEX® Boots

They use the same Gore Tex liner as Danner.  If you buy a boot with Gore Tex, chances are very high that they won't leak.  I'm not saying that they are better than Danner, I'm just trying to say that some Rocky's don't leak.  I have no affiliation with Rocky, I just like the product.

That's only because you stay at home.

Remember, we don't have any birds here in Alabama to chase.  :toothy9:

Read my post from yesterday, "I THINK I'M GOING TO LIKE THEM".  I purchased a pair of Danner Jackals and I put them on for the first time yesterday and wore them outside for several hours.  They are very light and I believe they will be comfortable after the inital break in.  Danner only guarantees their boots not to leak for one year.  Stated on guarantee in the box.  I'll keep everyone posted as I get more miles on them.  They will be going with me to Florida next month to hunt Osceolas.

I have the Rocky Prolights with the side zipper.

They're very and light and comfortable, as well as easy to get on and off, but I wouldn't say they're waterproof at all. What they are good for is crossing wet fields in the morning or small creeks here and there. They'll keep you dry for that, but if you're standing calf-deep in water for any length of time you're going to get a little wet.

The first pair i owned were rocky lowcountry with the rocky waterproof construction. They lasted close to 10 years with no leaks... Had the cabelas goretex and they leaked like a sive after about one season. Have some new rockys now with one season and no leaks. Will be in the swamps soon to test them soon.... :z-guntootsmiley:
