Title: Mossberg Maverick?
Post by: TurkeyScratch on February 04, 2012, 02:13:09 PM
I looked at one today in a 20 gauge at Wal-mart for $187. Looking to set up a 20 for my son. Has anyone here ever set up a Maverick? Thought I read before that the barrels were the same as the 835's. Is this correct? What choke/shell combo did you go with. Thanks!

They are an entry level shotgun. Barrels interchange with the Mossberg Model 500 but most other parts do not.

I've only seen those guns in 12 gauge with the standard bore barrel.

Personally, if possible, I'd go with the Mossberg 500.

Thanks,
Clark

It is a plain winchester thread.  12 ga put 660 if it a 20ga put a 562 and go kill birds.   Good gun just got a kick to it.

I just saw one of them last Saturday at a wal mart.  Put my hands on her and I gotta say I liked what I saw.  NOT a Mossy 500 20 gauge, but for $187.00?...good place to start I'd say.  You could always just use it for bunnies...

I thought they all were threaded for chokes. I've never seen one with a fixed choked. Learn something everyday.
