Title: New Guy!
Post by: Seth B on February 02, 2012, 10:11:26 PM
Been lurking for a while. Great site lots of good info.
I'm a full on rookie. Never owned a shotgun or been turkey hunting.
I just bought a 20 ga benelli nova, and want to start hunting turkeys.
I've got a ton of questions and need a ton of help.
Bare with me.
I guess my first question would be,  What advise do you have for someone just getting started?
I most likely wont hunt this spring. I want to be totaly confedent in my gun/shell/choke befor I even go out.
might try and get out this fall.
I'm in far northern Ca.

I'm in northen Ca. On the coast about 80miles south of the OR. boarder. I'll have to drive 2-4hrs to get into some birds.

Check out the 20 gauge section on here you'll be able to pick up a lot of help with your rig.

Advise - Sit an extra 20 minutes once you think it's time to move and hunt this spring.

Scout, scout, and scout some more!.Go out and listen for birds and keep track of them as they gobble, then move in later and look for sign, tracks, droppings, where they possibly roosted.Do this several mornings in a row and you will have a pretty good idea on where to start.
Good Luck!
