I shot mine in Butler , pa . There over 2& 3/16" I shot the bird The first year of the double tag with my dad and cousin . At the time they were #1 in pa and #2 in the world .
Thems railroad spikes. Post up some pics.
I don't know how ! I will ask the wife .
If you have a photobucket account you can just copy from there and paste it on here.
I personally know Bigbuck153. He is a close friend since grade school. I've hunted with him my whole life and he is telling the truth. Just spoke with him and when his wife gets home he will open a photobucket acct. and post up some pics. They are unbelievable. Hook like nothing you will ever see. He has more birds with 1.5 spurs than all my other buddies combined. I'll have to get him to post a pic of his collection. Beards are nothing to sneeze at either. Plenty over 11". He hunts in a fantastic area. I actually owe my biggest bird to him. 23.5 lbs 1.625 spurs and double 11" beard. That bird went to the taxidermist and he closed down and moved away. Never got my bird. :angry9: :angry9:
Give him a few days and you will get the pic.
Thanks Roy

I will mess with this tomorrow evening . We have an Mac computer and things aren't as simple as the picture posting describes on photobucket . Nice hooks gobbler777 ! You will see at a later date in my pic that I butt my finger into the leg and the tip of the spur is past my second joint . What sucks is that I didn't know what I had until I cut the bird up and figured out that you measure the spur like the main beam on a buck . When I measured it before I cut it it was around 1 3/4 . Had I know what I had it would have been a full mount . Oh Well !
1 1/16 is the longest I have killed.
1 1/4 for me
1 3/8"
1 1/2 for me

3 bow kills I got down there combined added up just shy of a foot coming in at (11 5/16") total.
My two best birds each sported 1-1/2 inch matching spurs. One was an Osceola, the other was a Michigan Eastern.
Here's the Eastern that I killed while hunting as Firedoc's guest.

At what time was they number 1 in Pa.? NWTF says the state record is 2"
I killed the bird in 06 . I'm not into putting my kills in the book but I did check into it at the time because I never heard of spurs bring that big. So I emailed NWTF. They said to get the bird mounted but I had already had it cut up for the grilling (which turned out like shoe leather due to the age ) so they told me to get the next bird that I harvest mounted and put the beard and legs off of the big spur'd bird on the mount. Well to me that just takes away from the actual kill so I never did nor did I ever have the bird registered at NWTF. When I asked them how old they thought the bird was they said its too hard to determine because once the spurs get or 1 1/2 its atleast a 5 year old bird.
Oh MY!!! bgbuck153, those are massive. Still not sure why you can't get in the books with that though
That stinks bgbuck very nice spurs congrats on those! As for being tough,I've never killed a bird I couldn't eat. Maybe yall cook em different up there.
Those are probably the biggest spurs I have ever seen a picture of .. unless you have tiny fingers :)
Congrats ..
My biggest are not quite that big, those are impressive.

Im the same size as him (according to the mentioned numbers ) and measured the same. That curve in the spurs will throw ya off.

I agree.
I was a doubting Thomas at first. I know a 2" spur when I see one. I would say he's very close on his measurement.
I'm 6 foot, 210 lb's and the exact same measure to that point on my finger was 2 inches. I'm a believer. Awesome spurs!!!

My longest spurs were 1 1/4". Here in the mountains of NC Pennsylvania the gobblers spurs do not get real long or sharp. I believe it's because of all the rugged rocky terrain, it keeps their spurs worn down.

Great collection, I see most are from the Show Me state. I have hunted Texas and Shannon counties for the past 23 years, and I have never seen and thing that you could poke your eye out with. What part of the state are your birds with the good hooks coming from?
1 1/4 for me, but never had one with a pair that long. Always one broke off or just shorter. Longest pair is 1 1/8
1.5" is the biggest for me. Biggest bird I have shot had the shortest spurs. Bird was 28.8 lbs with an extremely wide 19.5" beard. His spurs were only 7/8" long, but both were completely rounded off, they were almost 1" wide where they came out of the leg, will try to find pics.
This is only pic I could find of bird.

Unfortunately where I hunt they don't live long enough to get big spurs. ;D I've killed several with 1in to 1 1/4. The best being nearly 1 3/8.

That hook in your profile picture looks longer than that.
1 5/8" for me - but since there are no more birds in SAlabama, I do most of my hunting now in tennessee where the terrain is mountainous and rocky. They get broken off and don't tend to get as long here.
A beautiful matched set of 1 7/16" spurs on a Rio.
1 3/8" for me.
