Looking to buy a new slate or glass call for this spring...any opinions on which is better?
Slate sounds good but I'd probably go with glass. The slate can be a little finicky in high humidity.
My favorites slate........
I love slate but my woodhaven glass is a screamer on a windy day.
Glen Marrer Glass over Slate or Crystal over Glass. Either in Zebrawood.
If you already own a slate, I'd buy the glass. If you are buying your first pot, consider aluminum.
:deadhorse: every year it the same question, What 1 to buy.
Theres an EASY solution.
BUY 2 :you_rock:
All in good fun :goofball:
Its hard to tell someone what to get. What is your experience level? What calls have you had success with in the past? If its been loud screaming long boxes I say go with the glass. If you had success with softer calls go slate. Or go both in a 2 sider. ;D
slate easy to master, aluminum for loud calling.
this question is like stepping on a ant mound. find out if there are any call makers in your area they will be glad to let you play there calls.
slate for me.......
Bronze glass. But I carry both.
If you're in a southern state I would go with a glass. that early morning dew or humidity can completely make a slate sound dead.
Slate!
Bill
Slate for sure . It may be finicy in wet weather but nothing creates the nasally tone of a wild turkey better than slate IMO . :turkey2:

That humidity is a pain on them for sure!
